Mr. Maharaj was in court for resolution of a recent marijuana possession charge. The prosecutor agreed to an "adjournment in contemplation of dismissal," which meant the charge would be dropped if Maharaj stayed out of trouble for six months. Moments later, and while still in the courthouse, Maharaj was asked to produce his driver license for court personnel. He pulled out his folded-up license and in the folds was more marijuana. The plea deal fell through.
