Professional Experience
Andrew Gibbs evaluates insurance coverage questions and litigates insurance coverage disputes on behalf of general liability, property, homeowners, cyber, Jewelers Block and Specie, and other specialty line insurers, defending and prosecuting declaratory judgment actions in state and federal courts. He also handles complex, high-exposure defense litigation in cases involving premises liability, general liability, automobile negligence, product liability, and commercial and construction defect claims, from initial pleadings through discovery, trial and appeal.
Andy brings 25 years of experience handling complex commercial, casualty and insurance litigation and coverage matters to his work advising and advocating on behalf of clients. Clients across industries and market sectors — insurance, construction, manufacturing and professional services, among others — rely on Andy to provide actionable legal advice and courtroom-tested global litigation strategy to help resolve their thorniest high-dollar cases. He uses his extensive litigation experience to provide clients with business-savvy risk assessment, allocation and management advice to help them avoid disputes and litigation. He also develops and conducts seminars on legal and business issues of interest to clients.
Andy is committed to delivering superlative client-focused service. While he has handled thousands of claims and cases throughout his legal career, he understands that, to clients, each matter is distinct and important. He has a practiced ability to step into his clients’ shoes, fully considering their coverage positions, and their risks and objectives, in framing effective litigation strategy and advocating on their behalf. Clients know they can depend on Andy to be accessible and responsive to their questions and requests, and to clearly explain the risks and strategic choices, so they can make informed decisions to achieve favorable and cost-effective results.
Before joining WCM, Andy was a partner at a mid-size New Jersey law firm and at a Philadelphia-based AM Law 100 firm, and also worked as an associate at a boutique litigation firm. Prior to entering private practice, Andy clerked for the Hon. Edward W. Beglin, Jr., A.J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Union County.
Andy currently serves as president of the Union County Bar Association. He previously served as a youth baseball and basketball coach, on the board of the Westfield Baseball League, and as treasurer of a local Boy Scout troop. Andy lives in Westfield, New Jersey, and enjoys spending time with his family and at the Jersey Shore.

Managed and litigated several thousand World Trade Center respiratory lawsuits on behalf of a major construction company.
Represented a burner manufacturer in New Jersey asbestos litigation, obtaining summary judgment and favorable settlements in numerous cases.
Obtained summary judgment on behalf of insurers in declaratory judgment actions involving significant property and automobile insurance claims.
Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a property owner in a slip and fall action involving significant injuries in treatment.
Assisted in obtaining summary judgment in a multimillion-dollar claim for coverage for asbestos liabilities against an insurance company in liquidation.
