On Monday, June 22nd, the New Jersey Courts transitioned to Phase 2 of their re-opening plan. During Phase 2, a small number of judges and staff have returned to court for certain matters that cannot be handled remotely.
However, most civil proceedings will continue to be handled remotely at this time, including case management conferences, arbitrations, court-ordered mediation, and motion hearings. Jury trials continue to be suspended until further notice.
Throughout the pandemic, the judiciary has continued to provide information and guidance to attorneys, litigants and members of the public. We await the court's guidance on the timing for transition to Phase 3.
